This page's purpose is strictly to define KnCells as fully & accurately as possible.
It is NOT about why KnCells are useful, beneficial, powerful etc., or how they can be used for both individual & group purposes. Those topics are covered elsewhere on this site.
What are KnCells like? Mind maps!
When I created them I had been drawing hundreds of mind maps but often wanted a text or left-brained form of a mind map. Kncells provided this.
Format:
I will use my 5 N&S causes model to present what is Necessary & Sufficient to create & maintain KnCells.
PurposesKnCells are used to make personal, often unconscious, meanings & information conscious, hence available for editing, debugging, testing & sharing.
Contexts
The primary Contexts for using KnCells are:
- Clarifying one's own thoughts.
- Understanding the thoughts of others.
- Detecting Deceit & manipulation in others, as well as self-deception.
The Design Specification.
The Design Specification for KnCells is:
- Each Cell must be able to represent ANYthing you want.
- The cell must be able to connect to both internal & external realities.
- The format must allow/facilitate communication with other Individuals.
- The # of types of info must be unlimited.
Implementations:
The
Generic Implementation turns ideas into realities,
using 3 distinct functional & measurable parts:
Facts',
Skills', &
Models'.
Models which are distinct from Facts and Skills.
have 2 or more elements connected by critical relationships.
Together these elements + relationships serve the
Purposes
for which the system was designed to work within the intended
Contexts.
For KnCells, what are those 3 distinct functional & measurable parts
- Facts - 'Distinctions & Connections (Vocabulary)
- Skills - 'Organizing into Hierarchies
- Models - 'Model: Distinctions & Connections organized for a Purpose within a Context.
- Example:
The
Language Specific Implementation implements specific Data structures. I will use 2 examples:
- Paper & Pencil
- KNL a microworld built on top of LOGO
Resources (facts) + Skills + Models give us
Potential power.
We still need the Will to pull the trigger
AND the right context to be effective.
Only Individuals, not ideas, groups or movements make these decisions.
